UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. When replacing them, it is important that the new handles conform to the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.
The three measurements to check are the top screw's position as well as the key hole and lever sizes. Use the size guide to assist you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever handle is a modern-day door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This kind of door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made from durable materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and they use the same spindle and screws to secure them. They are easily fitted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite door.
The handle can be positioned and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This helps to ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further back in the door. A shorter lever is an excellent option for doors where the latch could be activated by the thumb turn inside.
Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles inline or offset. They are generally employed on UPVC double glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.
The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes, including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.
All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with the spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on any new or existing uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a larger handle, which can be beneficial when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also sprung, solving the problem of handles that slide out of the horizontal position when not in use.
It is essential to match the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also referred to as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect of matching up the right handles.
After you have determined the correct size of PZ, you will need to ensure that the lever and push pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They typically have of a round or square shape, with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging and possibly being stuck in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from getting into a house. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed models which allows them to be installed on either side of the doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This exposes pins that can be aligned to the pins in the lock and allow them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors generally needing different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder is crucial. It depends on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For instance, doors that are external require an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can improve security, for instance, anti-drill or anti bump properties.
window handles should be properly measured to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, should there be one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place, but if this is not feasible, you can take it off and take it off to measure. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is essential to make sure it's not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This will help to prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.
There are cylinders that have been made to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common method of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is smashed using a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a faster and easier way to gain access than a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which can delay insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their resting position after use. These handles used to have no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This component is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position, as they aren't easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung, they will not fit unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a hole specifically cut in your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as a single unit. They have a square-cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are an excellent value for money solution to the issue of door handles that are sagging. They are simple to put in and will prolong the life span of your uPVC doors.
